Quarantine Self-Portraits

During the lockdown in Los Angeles. Shit was rough.

With nothing to do I took a lot of self-portraits.

When people getting into photography ask me how I learn, this is the number one way I learned to take portraits, ESPECIALLY when it comes to using strobes .

What I learned from this is that I really like using only ONE source of light. I used to think you needed a plethora of fancy lights, reflectors and soft-boxes to make a kick ass editorial photo.

Turns out you need only one. thats it. and doesn’t even have to be an expensive light

actually you need NONE.

Nothing beats natural light for me. Period.

Just a reminder that fancy gear doesn’t make you an artist. yes it helps. But don’t let it hinder you.
